9 Mile Wintergreen Falls Loop Hike @ Dupont

Let's do a Saturday morning 9-mile loop hike to Wintergreen Falls at Dupont State Forest! This is one of Dupont's lesser-known/visited waterfalls, and the trails leading to it won't be as crowded as the main trails. Please make sure you're good with keeping a steady to brisk pace and are able to hike this distance before signing-up.

RSVPs open Wednesday, 11/5, at 6PM.

Meet at Ingles at 9:00, arrange carpools, and leave by 9:15 a.m.

If you want to meet us at the trailhead at the Lake Imaging parking lot at Dupont, please be there by 9:35 a.m., where we'll arrive shortly thereafter. Leave a comment if you're meeting there so we know not to look for you at Ingles. After turning onto Stanton Road from Crab Creek Road, it's the first parking lot you come to and will be on the left, and is before the Hooker Falls parking lot.

I led this same hike a few months ago and it's a really nice trail. Easy/moderate with a 650 ft. elevation gain. When we get to the waterfall, we'll spend some time on the rocks enjoying lunch. I like to keep a steady to brisk pace and keep the group together, stopping occasionally for water breaks and photo opps. Please make sure to stay with the group by not going too far ahead or trailing behind, and stop at all trail intersections.

Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome.

Please dress in layers for the weather and wear closed-toed footwear appropriate for hiking.

Bring: a few $$ for carpool drivers, water, snack/lunch, camera (optional)

If I had to guess what time we'd be back to Ingles, I'd say 2:30ish, but that depends on the pace and we won't want to rush the group. Please do not sign-up if you need to be back before 3:15.
