"Tanawha Trail" 10+ Mile *MODERATE* Hike

RSVP'S open on Wednesday, November 19 at 7:30 PM. Attendance is for 12 hikers. Please read description thoroughly.

The "Tanawha Trail" is a 13.5 mile stretch of GREAT hiking near Grandfather Mountain.

This is going to be a MODERATE Hike that will start from the "Beacon Heights" Parking Area (MP-305.5) on the BRP and we will head to "Rough Ridge Overlook" (MP-289.5) at the 5.1 mile mark and then head back the way we came to give us a 10.2 mile hike. There will be ROUGHLY 400-600ft Elevation Gain/Loss throughout this hike.

We will be passing/going under:

"Stack Rock" Parking Area

"Linn Cove Visitor Center"

"Wilson Creek Overlook"

"Rough Ridge" Parking Area

"Rough Ridge Overlook"

On this Trek you will see many sights/sounds and traverse varying terrain anywhere from: Very Rocky, Slick, Gravel, Pavement, Foot Bridges,etc.

I believe you will thoroughly enjoy this MODERATE hike and all it has to offer. It is a very easy trail to follow and is uniquely blazed with a White Feather.

We will be meeting at Earthfare in Wesgate Plaza at 8:30 am and leave at 8:45 am

We will leave promptly @ 8:45am and carpool together on a drive that will be about 1 1/2 hours and cover roughly 70.5 miles ONE WAY.

Be sure to bring plenty of Water, Food, $$$ to help pay for carpooling.

At roughly 2 mph,we are looking at 5 hours of hiking w/ breaks and lunch. We should be back in Asheville around 5:30 - 6:00. These are just estimates so PLEASE don't have any other engagements we need to rush back for. If so, perhaps sign on to another hike.
