Social Media, Photo sharing, and Crafting Your Brand Story

Photographers are visual storytellers; we spend years mastering our craft, learning to move our audiences emotions. Our images sell ideas and products every day. So why do we have so much trouble selling ourselves?

Come relearn "The Art of the Tell", spend an evening with Clark Dever as he shares his approach to marketing and sales in the web 2.0 world. In this discussion - hosted by ASMP San Diego at the Museum of Photographic Arts - we will explore the fundamental concepts of crafting your brand story through the focal lens of social media. Special attention will be paid to the platforms that are designed for photo sharing such as pinterest, tumblr, and instagram.

Buffalo, NY-based photographer Clark Dever is best known for his Twelve Hours in a City project. Utilizing only Twitter, Facebook, and an "All-You-Can-Jet Pass" Clark and his crew flew over 65,000 miles around the United State during September 2009. Effective use of Social Media lead to the project being featured on CNN,, ABC World News Tonight and in an internationally published article by the Associated Press.

Museum of Photographic ArtsThis event is being hosted by the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park. Check-in will begin at 6:30pm on Feb 28th and the program will begin in the auditorium at 7pm. Good overview of all the possible Social Media sites. Would have liked to have more actionable strategies on how to use them in unique ways.

Great overview of the various SM channels available! I was introduced to a few with which I was not familiar, so I'll likely be doing some exploring this weekend.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
