I wanted to bring together fellow *nix (pronounced 'asternix'; shorthand for Linux and Unix) professionals and enthusiasts, for the purpose of networking with like individuals in northern metropolitan Detroit.

Besides the inherent networking benefit, this group will server to become an incubator for ideas related to *nix, a forum for sharing knowledge, a pool of talent, and as a springboard for launching new businesses.

Many people involved in Linux feel this is a large growth area and therefore there will be many opportunities for new ideas and business ventures, as related to *nix. Although the growth area is expected to be in Linux vs. Unix, I include Unix because of the transferable skills and the similarity between the two areas.

Professionals in this field as well as those interested in becoming part of this booming area in the tech field are encouraged to join.

Check the Meetups tab for upcoming meetings and RSVP so that we may anticipate your participation.   Look for a Linux Penguin and a placard with "Linux Users Group" on the meetup table.

Feel free to browse the "Discussions" tab for various discussions, impromptu meetups, job postings, etc., and feel free to start your own discussion.
