OBSERVING IN SELVEY PARK, MAPLE RIDGE

Details
Selvey Park is a ball playing field situated south of Whonock Lake in east Maple Ridge. It is surrounded by farms on a dead end pave road with no street lights. This makes it a nice dark location for star gazing.
There is a parking lot 200 meters from 272nd Street in amongst a grove of tall trees that acts as a block for the car headlights. The park is 100 meters west of the parking lot. If you are bringing a telescope you can drive to the gate of the park to unload and then park in the lot.
The park offers a nearly unobstructed view to the east and south as well as a decent north horizon. To the west is Thorn Hill that blocks a lot of the light from the big city.
I will be there with my telescope from 8:30 till the wee hours depending on how much company I have. The Moon will not rise until 3 am and so we should be able to spot some deep sky objects as well as Saturn and other bright objects.
I hope to see you there.
