Keeping Christian Nationalism Out of California Schools
Undercover Lessons and Citizen Action
Mickey Dollens, Oklahoma State Representative and Regional Governmental Affairs Manager, Freedom From Religion Foundation Action Fund
Christian nationalists are infiltrating religion into public schools nationwide. Learn the signs that theology may be active in your local schools and hear about legislative efforts to protect students’ rights in an educational program with Mickey Dollens of the Freedom From Religion Foundation Action Fund.
Mickey has seen religious intrusion first hand as an Oklahoma state Representative. You’ll hear his recent experience going undercover at a school chaplain strategy meeting, where he uncovered the detailed playbook Christian nationalists are using to invade public education. According to him, "It's a wild story."
To keep public schools secular, Mickey and the FFRF Action Fund have developed a Secular Student Bill of Rights, a model law which, if enacted in California and other states, would protect students’ freedom of conscience and strengthen state-church separation in public schools.
Mickey will share practical strategies for lobbying elected officials, influencing policy, and advocating effectively for secular values, as well as provide insider tips for crafting persuasive messages, getting lawmakers to actually pay attention, and building grassroots momentum to drive real change.
Hosted by the SF Bay Chapter, Freedom From Religion Foundation.
