Fishers/Noblesville Meetup

Looking for some discussion with people who have a non-theistic view? This is one group that is very friendly and loves to chat about a wide variety of issues. We have really good discussions. Our single goal here is to build community and friendships. There isn't an agenda  that is set for this meeting. If you want to come and vent your frustrations living in a theist world good place to do that. If you want to meet friends this is a good place to do that too. If your atheist, agnostic, skeptic, freethinker, non-theist, then all are welcome.

Wow, sorry I missed this today. Who gets so upset that people disagree that they storm off and drop out of a group he has met once! I love the fact that we can have discussions with passionate disagreement respected on all sides, and always welcome them. We've done it more times than can be counted.

Today we met Steve. I won't go in to too much detail, but though he seemed nice at first, when the topic got to the Zimmerman trial, he went into a tirade about how the Obama administration was race baiting it from the start and told us a story about when he was followed by a guy on a dark street in the Bronx once and as the guy got closer to him he felt threatened and did a martial arts kick to the other person's head knocking a knife out of his hand. I think he felt he was like Zimmerman (defending himself from an attacker), but the way he told it it sounded more like he was in the role Travon was in. (Stalked in the dark and afraid.) When he realized what we were saying, he stared off into space for a few moments, then he stood up, told us off and stomped out.

Apparently, when he got home, He left a nasty message and left the group.

He did seen nice at first, but things took a strange turn. I think you summed it up well.

Sorry folks, but a lack of evidence-based reasoning is far too rampant among your group, and I see no reason to participate in that kind of discussion. If you decide to adopt a more common-sense approach, let me know, and I'll rejoin the group and try a second time.

Don't bother. Your "evidence" was profoundly racially biased. And you threw a tantrum and stormed out when we disagreed with you. If you can't handle opposing viewpoints, don't have discussions with freethinking people. Grow up. Steve.
