The Travel Club is a social travel group for travel enthusiasts to explore some of the metropolitan areas and travel destinations that are within 5 to 6 hours of Atlanta, Georgia. Atlanta's location is ideal for day or overnight trips to nearby cities such as Charlotte, Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville, Mobile, Birmingham, Nashville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Asheville and resort towns like Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Destin, Panama City, Myrtle Beach, and Hilton Head Island. The group is a spin-off of The Secret Get Out of Saint Louis Travel Club which takes monthly trips throughout the Midwest.
The purpose of the Travel Club is to facilitate travel by sharing travel expenses by carpooling to the destination, leaving early in the morning and returning to Atlanta late at night; thus, eliminating hotel expenses which is usually the most prohibitive cost of traveling. Although, some overnight trips may be planned, ideally we would like to minimize the cost for participants by returning the same day. Some regional and domestic trips may also be planned and there will be an opportunity to take part in international trips.
There is a lot to do and see in and around Georgia and the Southeast region. Trips may be planned around events or activities such as live music concerts, art and music festivals, sporting events, food fairs, and may include photography, dining out, sightseeing, swimming, walking, hiking, dancing, taking in a play or show at a local theater, bar hopping, tasting food and wine at local restaurants and wineries, drinking at the local pub or brewery, shopping at an antique shop or clothing store, checking out the night life at area nightclubs, unwinding at a comedy club, touring the city and sites of interest, and visiting local museums and other attractions such as zoos, aquariums, amusement parks, arenas, stadiums, and ballparks.

This is a great way to travel on a budget, to meet other travel enthusiasts, and to make new friends in a fun social setting while learning all about a city's landmarks, people, history, culture, art, and architecture. Our membership is composed of a diverse group of individuals that cover a wide range of ages and backgrounds.
If you're looking for an adventure, then come and join The Secret Get Out of Atlanta Travel Club. We no longer have an open membership on Meetup. Upon requesting to join, you will be invited to our next monthly event via an invitation that you will receive via the Meetup Message Center. You will need to respond to the invite, and submit a new member application via a link that the organizer will send you. Upon completing the application. You will be added to the guest list for the next event. After attending the event, new members are required to pay a $12 new member fee in order to join our group and receive access to our Meetup site. Please note that you will not be able to access our Meetup site until after attending your first event and after paying the new member fee. Prospects who do not meet this requirement will be DECLINED. A minimum level of activity and participation is required to remain in the group. Members must attend 1 event every 6 months. If you cannot meet this requirement, please do not request to join. The secret password is "Auckland". Please return in 24 to 48 hours and check your messages on the Meetup website or visit the link below for your invite. A response is required to join. No response equals no admittance.
