This month's workshop shall cover using a professional IDE (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Integrated_development_environment) for WordPress development. Our focus will be on PHPStorm (https://www.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/).

Meet-and-greet and setup begins at 6:30pm; workshop proper begins at 7pm. Come early if you need assistance installing PHPStorm!

PHPStorm is a cross-platform IDE that delivers a deep integration with WordPress. It is a must-have if you want to architect WordPress sites, themes, and plugins at a professional and efficient level.

Through a series of hands-on activities, you will learn how to:

• Navigate the WordPress core like a pro

• Automatically format your code according to WordPress coding standards

• Automatically scan your code for issues

• Utilize advanced debugging capabilities

• Integrate with tools like Git, Vagrant, Composer, PHPUnit and WP-CLI

• Easily Test REST APIs

• Directly integrate with your bug tracking system

• Do diffs on directories, files and file history

• Quickly publish Gists

Very few people who own PHPStorm know its full functionality, so come to the Coders Guild and get a heads up on the competition! If you don't already own PHPStorm, you can download a 30-day trial (full version) here (https://www.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/).

Any questions, be sure to comment below. We hope to see you there!
