Walk for Parkinson's Event

Join the National Parkinson Foundation for the inaugural Moving Day Atlanta - walk for Parkinson's event - that will take place on Saturday, November 9th at Georgia Tech. This is a special family-friendly event that includes 1-mile and 5K walk options, fun activities that emphasize the importance of movement and exercise for someone with PD (yoga, tai chi, dance, etc.), activities for kids, music, entertainment and so much more. We are currently looking for people willing to form teams for the event and come out to show their support for the Parkinson's community. It's free and easy to register at www.MovingDayAtlanta.org.

In addition to team captains and walkers, we are also looking for volunteers to help us on the day of the event. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the following form and return it to [masked] or [masked]: http://www3.parkinson.org/site/DocServer/Moving_Day_Atlanta_-_Volunteer_Registration_Form.pdf?docID=1021. Please contact Annie Long for more information and to get involved with this life-changing event: [masked] or[masked]-2705. People who move change the world!

I had a great time, just wish I could have met some people from the group. But, gotta say, it was quite moving seeing family members supporting their loved ones, people remembering loved ones and actual patients walking. It was hard to hold back the tears.

I haven't registered yet either. I know it's late. Do I register as an individual?

Hi Casamiaaron! Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering at Moving Day Atlanta. I would love to have you register as a walker at www.MovingDayAtlanta.org (at this point, all of our volunteer positions are completely full). Registration is FREE so definitely consider forming a walk team and inviting your friends and family members to join you. It's going to be a beautiful and fun-filled day! Thanks! Annie ([masked])

Hi Michelle! Have you received a volunteer confirmation from Amrita ([masked])? If you haven't, our volunteer positions are full at this point. But we would love to have you walk and participate with us! You can register you and your friends for FREE at www.MovingDayAtlanta.org. If you have gotten a volunteer assignment, please just dress warmly. We will give you an orange volunteer shirt when you arrive. Thanks! Annie ([masked])

Hi Joseph! We could certainly use extra hands to cheer in the walkers after the 5K walk and to clean up the event space. If you are interested, please email [masked] and Amrita will be able to confirm your assignment and get you all of the details.

(Oops I hit "enter" before finishing my response.) Have you already had a chance to sign up for a volunteer shift with our Volunteer Chair? If not, you can do so by emailing [masked]. We can sign you up for an earlier shift to ensure that you are finished in plenty of time for your net engagement. Thank you so much for supporting Moving Day Atlanta - a Walk for Parkinson's!

Hi Kevin! You can certainly walk and form a team of people to join you at www.MovingDayAtlanta.org (it's free to register ... you just have to enter your contact information). Since you are under the age of 18, I would just make sure your parent/guardian signed a liability waiver before the event. Please feel free email me at [masked] if you have more questions about getting signed up to walk. I would love you and your friends, family members, classmates, etc. to join us for this event. We are trying to get as many people as we can registered to walk on Saturday, Nov. 9.
