What does being well mean to you? Does it involve aspects of the mind, body and spirit or just the body? It seems as though many people relate being well to just the physical body. The mind, however, plays a big role as well.
One cannot deny the effects that emotions cause the body to have. When one is sad, their eyes can begin to swell up with tears and they may cry. This is an example of an emotional response triggering a physical response. Another example is getting angry (emotional) and your heart rate increasing (physical).
There are endless examples of the mind/body connection. If we neglect to acknowledge that a lot of the physical responses may be the result of emotional responses, then we will continue to treat just the symptoms instead of the problems.
