Targeting Javascript with an object oriented, multiplatform language called Haxe

I gave a talk about Haxe over a year ago (http://fboyle.com/presentations/haxegettingstarted) and since then I have used Haxe in several projects. I'm particularly interested in creating javascript-based solutions by leveraging the features of this language and will share what I have learned so far.

Check out http://www.haxe.org/ and see you at the meetup if this interests you.

    Here is a good introductory tutorial on getting started with Haxe and Javascript for anyone wanting to take the first steps:

    Thanks Fintan for your very interesting presentation, I will definitely consider Haxe for my next project or experiment. I saw the physics engine demo on the haxe website and it looks cool! And thanks for answering to my question about returning anonymous objects, as well.

    Thanks Fintan for a very enjoyable preso showing your keen interest and knowledge of Haxe; also your familiarity and knowledge re all developers and companies working in the Open Source Haxe Project. Tks again.

    Much obliged as always.
    I always leave your talks with a handful of search terms that that slowly move along the spectrum  from "I didn't really know what that was about" through "well at least I can bluff my way through that" eventually to " I don't know how I managed without this for so long".

    Haxe is also not a one man project Peter ;-) Check out this link to see the main contributors: \n http://fonzi.visibli.com/share/kTnM0M

    Hi Niall,
    Glad you liked the talk. I'll post the slides this evening. Someone asked me about returning anonymous objects from a method and I didn't answer it properly. Here is the syntax for doing this:

    function getPerson():{name:String, age:Int}
    { return {name:"Sean", age:28};
    }

    Thanks for great presentation. Definitely I'm encouraged to give Haxe a go with targeting different platforms.
