Who taught you how to knit/crochet and how long have you been doing it?

One of my friends taught me to knit sometime around 2007 or so. My grandmother tried to teach me to crochet when I was much younger, but my scarf quickly turned into a triangle! Another friend walked me through the basic crochet stitches in 2012, but I've managed to forget most of them from lack of practice.

What's your favorite fiber?

Bamboo is my absolute favorite, but linen and soysilk are both awesome as well.

If you were stranded on a deserted island with loads of cashmere and rosewood needles (or hooks), what would you make?

As a vegan, I doubt I'd be stranded anywhere with cashmere. *grin* Let's assume I'm stranded with loads of linen yarn, since I'm on an island (and I'm assuming that means it'd be warm). I'd make a bunch of tank tops and a few pretty pancho-type coverups.

For you, does knitting/crocheting seem like it's going to be a passing fancy or a lifelong passion? (Hint: If you've been doing it for more than 3 years, I think we already have your answer.) :)

Lifelong passion, though I'd love to spend more time on it!

Introduction

I'm a new-ish/intermediate knitter, and would love to learn crochet (two people have tried to teach me, but I haven't practiced enough to make it stick.) I'm interested in meeting other knitters/crocheters and learning new things!

This was my first time attending, and the people that I met seemed nice. I look forward to getting to know everyone better!
