Austin PHP Monthly Meetup

  • Jun 14, 2012 · 7:00 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

This month we are going to have several talks on Web Performance.

We will cover types of caching strategies and what tools are good to have in your tool belt.  There will be some general discussion about the entire web stack, not just the server side PHP code. Don't worry they won't be full length talks, so the meeting should be about as long as normal.

Dan DeFelippi from the Austin Web Performance Meetup will be starting things off with an overview of optimizations and tools

Robert Ristroph from Four Kitchens will be here to talk about Drupal performance

Jason Cohen from WP Engine will be here to talk about how his company overcame some of the challenges associated with scaling wordpress.

If you are interested in sponsoring the subgroup this month, please get in touch with Logan.

The speakers were fantastic. I especially appreciated Robert from Four Kitchens sharing his infrastructure diagrams. I was also able to use today to isolate a performance problem, so big thanks to Jason. The presentation pace was also good.

Amazing content, great presenters. This was my first meetup, and I am looking forward to more in the future.

Mind blowing talks about web performance by all three presenters that any good developer could digest. From the high level practices to the nitty gritty details of carving those miliseconds off your load time, I left the Meetup analyzing everything I do now knowing what I could be doing better. I even won a book in the raffle, bonus!!!
