The Austin Python Meetup Monthly Meetup
Details
At our May meetup, Francesc Alted, the author of PyTables, will give a presentation describing its purpose, showing the cool things it can do, and answering your questions about HDF5, fast columnar storage of arrays, cache-coherency, and the like. He has also authored many other great tools in the Numpy ecosystem, including compressed arrays and NumExpr, and will be happy to answer questions about those.
Zynga is generously sponsoring the food & beverages for our meetup, and there will be a representative to talk about their presence here in Austin. (He may or may not be able to give you tips on upping your Farmville game...)
We will also have two carbonated kegs of home-brewed beer (an Irish Red and a hopped Hefeweisen), and a keg of home-brewed root beer. These are left over from an office party last week, but there is plenty of beer left in them. Assuming I don't kill myself disconnecting the CO2 tank and such, we'll have these at the meetup on Wednesday.
See you all there!
-Peter
