A Beginners Guide to WordPress Plugins

In this session we will examine the wonderful world of WordPress Plugins. Even those new to WordPress will be familiar with the general concept of plugins. If you have been managing your WordPress site for a while you’ve probably chosen and installed a few plugins on your own.

We will discuss when using a plugin is a great idea, and when a plugin might be the wrong solution. Those new to WordPress need to know the disagvantages using too many plugins, and what using the wrong plugin can do to your site’s performance.  And if you have ever wondered which of the thousands of Plugins in the WordPress Repository Developers consider must haves in their professional tool kit, we will share to list too. Rich Plakas and Sandi Batik will lead this session.

I didn't make the meeting due to a last minute snag. But! - I did read the notes that were posted from the meeting. Sandi did an awesome job on them! The notes are very nicely detailed and informative. If you were unable to make the meeting as I was, I'd suggest having a look thru them. Tons of great info there.

An excellent evening of WordPress info. I think the absolute beginners followed well, but there was also great info for those of us further along. (Thank you.)

Great presentation _ Rich Plakas & Nick Batik are both extremely knowledgeable and covered the topic in terms a beginner could easily relate to. They answered all the questions clearly without getting off topic - not an easy trick to pull off!

Hi all. I"m visiting Austin for a few months. Glad I found the WordPress folks. I've been using plugins for a couple of years but one can always learn. (I'm a native of NY, been living in LA a long time.)
Looking forward to meeting you, Rich et al.

I just moved to Austin from NYC. I already have a website up but it looks really bad and I'm fairly ignorant when it comes to WP. I am looking for someone to help me with some specific stuff. I learn better when taught in person than online. The site will be used to promote the work of artists with various disabilities. Cheers.
