The New York City Pilots Group - (HANGAR FLYERS) Pages
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, --and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of --Wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air...
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark or even eagle flew --
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God. - John Magee
I am not a religious man, but John Magee's famous poem (High Flight) pretty much sums up the religious experience all pilots have faced at one time or another. Let's face it: We pilots love to talk, particularly about flying. And if you're like many of us, you've seen the eyes of family and friends glaze over when we get started on the topic. The purpose of this group is to give those of us who love aviation an avenue to meet others who share our passion. It doesn't matter whether your a professional, private, or student pilot; even if you've never flown but want to learn more, this group is for you. We will host mostly social meetups, at bars, seminars, etc. This is not an active "flying" group. It is designed for hanger flying for NYC people who can no longer find the means to get airborne due to the challenges of NYC living (money, transportation, etc.)
Be sure to fill out your profile and introduce yourself. If you have questions, you'll no doubt find someone here willing and able to help.
We look forward to seeing you at the group meetings and events.
