For our May meetup, we will have a special visitor from out of town coming to speak to us. Adam Culp (https://twitter.com/adamculp), from Zend, we'll be speaking to us tonight about Refactoring (more information about Adam and his presentation below).

We will also have food and drinks provided by Corporate Job Bank (http://corporatejobbank.com/), who has some good ($100K+/yr.) PHP jobs to share with us.

As usual, we will be sharing PHP news, and hosting a raffle for prizes. This month, we will have an orange php[architect] elePHPant (https://www.phparch.com/swag/plush-elephpant/), among other things.

Stick around afterwards, and we'll walk over to somewhere Mill Ave. (probably Rula Bula or Gringo Star), find something to drink, talk shop, and hang out.

Presentation: Refactoring 101

We hate to refactor. (The practice of altering code to make it cleaner, simpler, and sometimes faster, while not altering functionality.) Adam Culp will talk about how to do it better, and will discuss: When to refactor. How to refactor. Why refactor. How a refactor can help us write better code in the future. A common methodology and steps to follow while refactoring, and resources to help us all on our refactor journey.
