Caving, Part II

I led the group on the last caving event, and everyone in the group said they would love to go again; so, this is part II.

We will meet in the park parking lot east of Brushy Creek Municiple Utility (16318 Great Oaks Drive, Round Rock, TX), behind the fire station building. Look for a Silver Infiniti with a yellow bat sticker on the back.

We had six participants last time, which was ideal. I can lead multiple groups at different times in one day. IF we have more than 6 people total, I will lead another group in at 5pm the same day--you MUST text or call me if you wish to be in the second group.

We will meet at the location at 10am, and we will enter the cave by 11am. My number is (five one two) 537-6061. Like last time, if you are running late or decide to show at the last minute, you must text or call me before 10am, or we will not wait for you.

The trip will take roughly 4 hours.

Every participant must abide by all rules and respect the cave at all times, or they will be asked to leave and never return--no exceptions.

Everyone needs the following self-provided gear:

Helmet (REQUIRED). Cost-effective with styrofoam lining at Sports Authority for ~$25. Headlamp (required). Cost-effective Energizer lights at Academy; better lights at REI. Backup flashlight for all your lights (REQUIRED)* Backup batteries for your lights (REQUIRED) 1 liter water (REQUIRED). Bring bottles, avoid teardrop packs.* Elbow and knee pads (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED). The Black McDavids from Academy are good. Gloves (REQUIRED). Cloth gloves dipped in blue silicon at Lowes, $5 for 5 pairs Boots Long pants A t-shirt (what I'm wearing) or long shirt Food (trail mix or protein bars) A change of clothes (there is an enclosed bathroom nearby) I recommend simply bringing along a liter of water and putting your batteries and flashlights in your pockets.

I plan to bring a trash bag and collect any trash we find in the cave. Also, no one takes anything out of the cave besides trash. There is a Subway nearby at which we can eat lunch.
