Building 3rd Party Widgets - Jonathan Julian
How does the Facebook Like button work? How do sites like Twitter offer widgets that you can embed on your own blog? In this session, we'll build our own widget for cross-domain communication, while also covering dynamic script loading, JSONP, iframe hacking, HTML5 PostMessage, etc.
CreativeJS Demo - Ricky Blaha/Cory Hudson
In-browser graphical capabilities are becoming richer than ever, and you can now create truly beautiful visual effects with JavaScript and HTML5. Join us as we demonstrate some of amazing graphical effects that are possible using methods pioneered by Seb Lee-Delisle (and taught in his training courses) http://creativejs.com/
Hungry?
Food will be provided - we have wings along with cheese and veggie trays. Some cold beverages as well.
Lightning Talks
Do you have something you'd like to share? A new library, a cool project, or just need a soapbox to rant from? We're making time for multiple 5-minute lightning talks at the beginning of every meetup. Email the organizers and we'll add you to the schedule.
We have a new venue!
Advertising.com has offered their space to us for this meetup, it's located in Tide Point in the Ivory Building. Enter the building under the large sign that says "Ivory" and walk by the big blue crab then take an immediate left. You can take the water taxi over from Fells Point (landing #8) to landing #10 or you can drive over and park in any spot marked "Visitor" or in the "F" lot.

The green is where the designated visitor spaces are. Those are marked "visitor" on the pavement. Watch out for 'reserved' or handicap. The purple shaded in area is one of the employee lots which is available for us to park in. The Blue marker next to the building is the entrance to the Advertising.com meeting space.

How disappointing! This was to be the first meeting I attended and I didn't know their was a limit on attendees--I was waiting to verify that I would be able to attend before RSVPing. For future events is it best to RSVP right away and then change that if not able to attend?
We have just raised the attendee limit - the venue will hold 60 people with tables and then there's standing room. Please re-RSVP!
Any suggestions on how someone from the Hopkins Homewood campus / Charles Village area can get to the Ivory Building without a car?
If you come before 6pm you can take the water taxi from fells, or you can take the 1 bus from mariner arena.
Take the 3 bus to Mariner arena from Charles Village, its on St. Paul
Yeah, the ride there is easy - all downhill, 8 miles from Hampden - the ride back though is a bit of work.
Nick's got me covered. Thanks for the information, very useful for future reference! See y'all tuesday.
...till you eat so many wings you pass out in the corner...seriously though, we rarely go over two hours. Also, there will be tons of wings, some cheese and veggie trays along with cold refreshments of the adult variety.
Anyone heading up towards station north after the meeting (or towards a light rail station)?
since I haven't been before I'm wondering--will we be "observing" or are laptops needed? I have a bunch of videos encoding that don't look like they'll be finished in time.
Laptops are not needed, but they're not discouraged either. Tonight I hope to have a little demo so at least bring a device with wifi!

This would be a great talk, maybe even touch on opening up JS APIs a bit in here too?
