Renormalize- Solve Performance Problems in MySQL w/o Denormalization w/ Ari Weil

As operational database schemas become complex, users resort to denormalization to handle performance issues. This includes a range of techniques from materialized views to using MySQL as a key-value store for blobs containing full objects. While denormalization solves immediate bottlenecks, it comes at ahefty price. In this presentation Ari will explore common denormalization approaches and tradeoffs using real world examples. He will then present a solution under development at Akiban Technologies to alleviate these same problems much more efficiently, and allow users to get the best of both worlds.

Ari Weil is Product Manager for Akiban Technologies and covers markets, projects and product direction. Prior to Akiban, Ari worked as product manager for Quest Software's application and database performance management products. He has a Bachelor's from The Ohio State University.

Akiban is looking to engage with design partner companies to help validate our value-proposition (10-50x faster database performance, eliminates the cost of joins, breaks through MySQL Scalability..etc). On top of many other free of cost benefits, the technology which is set to be released in enterprise edition early 2012, is free for design partners.
