BarCamp Gold Coast VI

Usual Barcamp format - feel free to come and talk about anything you like, doesn't have to be IT, we always get a very diverse crowd so someone will listen!

Talks are limited to 10 mins in the morning and 20 mins in the afternoon and we are going to be strict on time. Try and plan your talk to last half of the time so there is time for questions. We'll have 2 rooms available to us, each with projectors - so if you want to hook up your laptop to present, that's cool - just make sure you have a VGA output. There are also some more casual areas outside of the main room that can be used for informal talks

A few things that have been prearranged:

1. Speed networking
2. "show and tell" corner where you can bring anything that you want to show off. If you have anything commercial - it would be best if you show this here rather than taking up talk slots.
3. We'll try and video one of the streams - please let us know if you want to be videod
4. There will be prizes. You need to be RSVPd YES to be eligable for a prize though
5. Food is provided and there is no charge. I might be taking a collection for a nominated charity - so feel free to bring some spare change.

Apart from that - the day is yours, so if you have any specific ideas bring them along and try them out. We normally finish about 4pm.

Here is the rough schedule but this is VERY subject to change - as that is what Barcamp is all about:

10 Coffee - chat - setup
10:30 Speed Intro
11:00 Lightning Talks 1
11:10 Lightning Talks 2
11:20 Lightning Talks 3
11:30 Lightning Talks 4
11:40 Lightning Talks 5
11:50 Lightning Talks 6
12:00 Lunch
1:00 Talk 1
1:20 Talk 2
1:40 Talk 3
2:00 Talk 4
2:20 Break
2:40 Talk 5
3:00 Talk 6
3:20 Talk 7
3:40 Talk 8
4 end

I really like barcamps that have a breadth of topics, and the gc one did.

I did miss some of the creature comforts, but you get what you pay for.

My favourite barcamp so far - didn't quite beat QUT on the numbers, but the venue, people and quality of talks made up for it.

First one of these I've attended and was very impressed. Met some really interesting and helpful people who were very giving of their time and advice. The only thing was that there were so many great talks given that sometimes the ones I wanted to see were on at the same time... It was one of those days so Thank you for organising a very good event.

The standard keeps improving. A great set of speakers and attendees. Many thanks to Steve and the other organisers - I'm over the coffee withdrawal symptoms!

Another excellent barcamp. Sorry I couldn't get there earlier but enjoyed and learned from presentations I took - thanks Bec, Arjen, Fraser - and all the good conversation with interesting people. Thanks to everyone who put it together and kept things running.

Short of coffee and internet, and giving the awesome reprap a better space of it's own, I don't see how it could have gone better! Can't wait for BarCap GV VII :)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
