We found Baru through PetFinder.com. He is a rescue from Mighty Mutts. We first met Baru in Union Square. Miss Cheevie was resuced from the Brooklyn dog pound.
We got Baru two years ago. Cheevie has been with us since the beginning of December.
Baru ("Ba-roo!"), but he likes to be called "Boo-Boo". Miss Cheevie was named Evelyn by her previous owners, but she seems to like her new name better.
Baru is a true brat. He likes to bite the butts of other dogs in order to get them to chase him. If they don't chase, he keeps biting until they do. Cheevie likes to play "Crouching Tiger". When another is dog coming, she crouches & pounces.
Baru is leash aggressive, so he is trouble when he sees another dog on the street. Fortunately, he plays well with others off-leash. Cheevie climbed over the dining room table, through the pass-through to get to the counter to steal cookies.
My 1st Basenji was Wrinkles, a beautiful red & white girl who we had for seven years. Two years ago we decided to get her a companion, Baru. Wrinkles passed this spring, but Baru still lives with us. Now we have our 3rd Basenji, Miss Cheevie.
