$10.00 Skins Game at Pagoda Ridge

Details
Come out for a friendly Skins Game on Sept. 22; 2pm at BC's newest Championship Golf Course, Pagoda Ridge in Langley.
What is a Skins Game?
Definition: "Skins" are what a "skins game" is played for. A skins game pits players in a type of match play in which each individual hole has a set value (usually in money or points). The player who wins the hole is said to win the "skin," and whatever that skin is worth.
Skins games are often more dramatic than standard match play because tied holes are carried over. When players tie on a given hole, the value of that hole is carried over and added to the value of the following hole. The more ties; the greater the value of the skin and the bigger the eventual payoff.
For example, our skins game is played for $2 per hole. If three holes in a row are played without a winner, then the fourth hole is worth $8 ($2 for its own value, plus two dollars for each hole that carries over).
Any skins leftover after 18 holes will be decided by a putting contest after the round for your foursome. Payouts to winners will be made via Paypal within 48 hours after the round.
Cost:
$10.00 Skins Fee
$40.00 Green Fee
Everyone must submit the $10.00 Skins fee via Paypal when they RSVP. This secures your spot and provides a guarantee to the course. If you fail to cancel within 7 days or fail to show up your skins fee is forfeited to the golf course.
Everyone will pay their own green fees at the course when they arrive.
Making it Fair for Everyone
To even the playing field we must implement handicapping and group golfers by similar ability. You can use an RCGA handicap or the Free BCGolfPages Handicapping. (http://www.bcgolfpages.com/register.php)
If you do not have a handicap, please sign up (http://www.bcgolfpages.com/register.php) and establish one with BCGolfPages. You only need to enter scores from 3 games on the BCGolfPages handicapping system to obtain a handicap to play in this event.
I suggest you enter your scores hole by hole and track these four stats; Fairways hit, Bunker shots, Putts and Penalty strokes. This will help you improve your overall game by identifying weak areas in need of practice.
Very Important:
You must upload a recent screen shot of your handicap index /factor to your profile picture so others can view handicap. This will allow me to place you in the proper group and eliminate the need for me to contact you.
Rules:
Each foursome will decide which tees to play from and if they will be playing summer or winter rules. Your 3 playing partners are your rules committee and their decision on the course will be final. As for playing strict rules or not, ie ball down or lift clean and place, that will also be decided before the game starts by each foursome. The focus is on having fun and not so much the competition.
A Winning Solution for All
This Skins format addresses a lot of concerns and shortcomings we have when hosting large Meet-ups.
For example:
• The $10.00 Skins fee provides a deposit guarantee to the golf course and ensures commitment to attend from the member.
• Skins format allows us to play quicker because players can simply pick up if they are out of the skin.
• Skins Games promote camaraderie within the group as you will be cheering on your playing partners to sink the putt to carry over the skin
• Skins format provides us with a sustainable prize funding solution.
• PayPal payments remove the need to go out and shop, cart and deliver prizes.
• Handicapping of players ensures fair competition and the grouping of players with similar ability will help scheduling the groups better off the tee box providing a better pace of play.
• Tracking your scores, establishing a handicap and reviewing your stats will help you improve your game and lower your scores
I hope you will support this new Skins format and you can come out and join us! It’s going to be a lot of fun.
Cheers
Ray
About the Course:
This brand new par 72, 18 hole course plays just beyond 7000 yards from the back tees. The fairways are well defined, with 55 strategically placed bunkers and water hazards in play on more than half of the 18 holes.
The Asian infused architecture creates a memorable, unique experience that is unprecedented by any other course in the Fraser Valley. As you advance through the park-like grounds, walk upon the replica “Great Wall Of China” and past an authentic Chinese Fighting Ship, the Pagoda style architecture will provide you with a surreal sense that you have entered a mystical golf destination.
