Beagles are truly a very special breed. They absolutely LOVE to be part of a pack!
The Beagle Pack! schedules monthly MeetUps during the spring, summer and fall... and as weather permits during the winter months.
We bring our hounds together at public dog runs throughout New York City in order to give our Beagles the opportunity to socialize, play, howl and run together with their like-minded canine cousins.
Although a Beagle's natural instinct is to hunt in a pack, the breed is highly adaptable... adjusting happily to a suburban backyard as easily as to a cozy urban apartment.
Regular exercise is crucial to keep a Beagle fit and healthy. Frequent changes of scenery, scents and company (either human or canine) will also stimulate a Beagle's senses and repel boredom. This is good to keep in mind because a Beagle will never hesitate to express its discontent with its distinctive howling!
Beagles are very friendly, playful and eager to please. They can also be somewhat independent, with a tendency to do what they want, and get away with it... for who can deny them anything with their angelic faces and those expressive EYES?!
Good-natured and steady in temperament, Beagles have an engaging demeanor which endears them to children and adults alike. In essence, this breed has something to offer to just about everyone!
The Beagle Pack! has many experienced Beagle People and Beagle Lovers who would love to share their Beagle Wisdom with you and welcome you as a new member in our group!
If you are here because you are considering purchasing a Beagle, we recommend that you first check out local rescue groups or NYC animal shelters (see links below). There are many wonderful animals in need of good homes and they DO have Beagles.
Many of our members have adopted their Beagles, so feel free to seek advice from our experienced Beagle owners in our group before making your final decision. We are absolutely sure that you won't ever regret getting one of these beautiful hounds!
Note: Everyone is welcomed in our group, including folks who are looking to have, or have had Beagles in the past, as well as people who simply love Beagles and are willing to contribute to their well being in whatever way that they can.
Mixed Beagle breeds and all Beagle loving canines are also welcomed in The Beagle Pack!
Big Apple Pets - The NYC animal shelters have an online site where you can search through and look at the dogs in need of homes.
SOS Beagles - A Tennessee based Beagle rescue group that also shelters Beagles in New Jersey and private foster homes in New York and Pennsylvania. There are a lot of Beagles down South because of their ability to hunt and live outdoors, but often they are abandoned or lost, and rarely spayed/neutered.
B.A.R.C. - The Brooklyn Animal Rescue Coalition is a no-kill shelter. Check it out! They house 20-25 dogs and 50-60 cats at a time. A well-run shelter with veterinary services and a strong base in the community. A lot of turnover!
