Welcome New Jersey Poets, Slam Poets and Spoken Word Artists

We are looking to build a strong group of Poets, Spoken Word Artists, Songwriters and Slam Poets to get a North Jersey Poetry Slam series off the ground.

There are three main venues in New York City that push this art form : Nuyorican Poets Cafe, Bowery Poetry Club, and LouderArts at Bar 13. There is also a south Jersey venue called Loser Slam in Lincroft.

Each venue above holds competitions and sends a team of 4-5 poets to the Nationals. They are registered venues. With enough of a strong following, we can hold a regular series, become affiliated and send a team of North Jersey poets.

We will have regular group get togethers to attend the above venues, take part in their free workshops, and we will also hold monthly shows at Crossroads in Garwood which is a venue that gives us a great attractive stage to perform, a comfortable listening environment and great food to boot.

I hope you are as excited as I am about getting a North Jersey Slam venue going.

Each BeHEARD show will feature an open mic, an open slam, a feature poet, and a feature songwriter/band that displays lyrical strength. We know you have an opinion and something to say.....let us be your open ears.
