I really have a wide range and variety of interests, from Arabic music and dance to Middle Eastern cuisine, to Arabic Language and Calligraphy. So, I'm game to ANYthing. . .
Yes, I am (unfortunately) most definitely a beginner. Every time I see Tariq dance (&, if you don't know Tariq, you're missing something special), I feel motivated 2 take a class w/him, but just haven't followed-through yet. Soon though, n'cha Allah!
I have no 'particular interests' in regards to the club, however, I guess I'd say networking, meeting new people, and learning more about the art of Oriental dance is my primary motivation for being in the group.
I joined this group in order to network w/the Bellydance community in Jersey City & Hoboken. As Organizer of the NYC Arabic Club, I'm always branching-out, trying to make new connections. Since then, Basmah n'Dale have become good friends of mine!
Salaam! Ismi Michael 'Jamal'! I'm the Organizer of the NYC Arabic Language & Culture Meetup Club, & an avid fan of the art of Bellydance. Although I have a well-rounded belly, I'm not too good at shaking it - yet, but looking foward to learning to!
It was a pleasure to meet Malika Basmah and some of the other beautiful dancers from the Jersey City - Hoboken Bellydance Meetup. I hope that we can continue to collaborate on joint events. Michael Kim 'Jamal' Riegelman, Director, NYC Arabic Language & Culture Club. Riegelman@UN.Org
