I like cooperative games a lot (Pandemic! Zombicide! Space Alert!), but I can get into all kinds of games. Recently I've been playing Betrayal at House on the Hill, the aforementioned Pandemic and Zombicide, and a bit of Dominion. My husband and I are looking for new people to play Space Alert with, since it's not nearly as fun with just two!
More than I currently play them. :) My previous set of roommates were more into it than this set, alas, but I like to play whenever I get the time (lately once or twice a week).
Ask not what your game group can do for you! I am mostly looking to find geeky folks to hang out with (my husband and I just moved to Berkeley from SF this year, and we're finding the social scene somewhat different). I can teach... all the games I have? I don't have a ton, but I've found Tichu (card game with Euchre-ish roots?) to be interesting, and for non-board-game-players like my parents I've been having fun teaching Betrayal at House on the Hill.
I don't have a style that goes across all games, really, since different games require different approaches. I tend to be pretty social while playing, though, rather than just focused on the game.
I visit boardgamegeek.com when I'm thinking about buying a game, but don't have a username. :)
I am a PhD student in CS at Berkeley who, uh, loves playing board games! And I just got some new ones for Christmas...!
