Ballerina Fantasy with Jemma

Dear BFG member,

It is my pleasure to introduce you to Jemma. She will be gracing our studio with her dynamic ballet moves enhanced without and with powder. This is another opportunity to further develop your portfolio and your studio photography skills. This will be a non-nude session.

In this four hour session a low key studio set will be demonstrated and explained to all participants. You will have the opportunity to direct the model how you want the shot. Please bring sample images if you wish. The first hour involves setting up the set and doing much of the chit chat. Then we will move on to the shooting part for the next three hours.

Our Model - Jemma

Jemma has many years of professional dance experience with Canada's National Ballet School, Academy of Ballet and Jazz (School of Canadian Ballet Theatre), and the Canadian Ballet Theatre.

Model Release Form:

A non-commercial model release form will be signed by the model for the photographer to use his/her images for personal use such as self-promotion in any medium. Images may also be posted online and prints my be sold in galleries.

What to bring:

• your camera with empty memory card and full battery

• 35 mm to 85 mm lenses or zoom lens

• tripod is optional (I will provide one)

What you'll learn: (more emphasis on shooting)

• low key lighting (rim lighting)

• how to use light modifiers to alter the light you want

• how to use a light meter to measure light ratios

• directing your model and assistants (very important for this types of photography)

• a few things about ballet

Who is this for:

Photographers of all levels including Sony Alpha camera owners. I have a hot shoe adapter for Sony cameras if needed. You should be able to control your camera in MANUAL mode with a basic understanding of photography.

You will have the option of dragging the shutter to show motion in your shots or not. If you do choose this option a professional tripod will be provided.
