29th Big Data London Meet-up at Big Data LDN

Details
We're excited to announce our November 2016 Meet-up taking place at our new host the BigDataLDN Conference and Exhibition. (Don't get confused by the name similarities ;). Note you'll need to register to access the venue atwww.BigDataLDN.com (http://www.bigdataldn.com/)
During this meetup, we'll focus on big data architecture with 3 start speakers.
Agenda
• Streaming, Database & Distributed Systems: Bridging the Divide, Ben Stopford Architect @ Confluent. There is something very interesting about stream processing. It builds upon messaging, rather than using a file system, as a more typical database does. But stream processing engines themselves are really a type of database. A database designed specifically to blend streams and tables so you can query continuous results. As such they span an architectural no-mans-land that sits between Database and Distributed Systems fields. This talk will look at Stateful Stream Processing. Can a streaming engine provide the guarantees of a database? When is a streaming engine best? How do they work, under the covers?
• Big Data Meets Blockchain, Bruce Pon, CEO @ BigchainDB. What happens when you combine the benefits of a big data database with blockchain characteristics? The answer: qualitatively better datasets for deeper insight and transparency. Hear how BigchainDB came to be and learn how we used blockchain database technology to identify fraud in the diamond industry with Everledger.
• Geospatial Big Data with GeoMesa, Accumulo, Spark and GeoServer, Fabio Petroni, PhD Data Engineer, Data Science & Engineering @ KPMG. Spatio-temporal data is one of the largest types of data being collected today. In this talk I will present the experience we had in KPMG with a completely open-source architecture for geospatial big data analytics - based on GeoMesa, Apache Accumulo, Apache Spark, GeoTools and GeoServer.
