What are you doing with Big Data?

Syncsort has been working with Big Data for over 40 years. The company introduced its ground breaking technology back in 1968, streamlining mainframe sorting using less resources and scaling with demands from growing data volumes. Fast forward to today, having captured 50% of the mainframe market Syncsort has been successfully taking its ETL solutions for open systems environments to market. Due to Syncsort’s heritage and unique patented technology which drives better value to performance DMExpress (the core software product brand name) is able to be deployed in existing customer environments to optimize customers’ integration infrastructures - easily dropped in to accelerate either other ETL solutions, whether it be off the shelf tools such as Informatica, DataStage, Talend, Abinito etc, hand coding solutions e.g. PL/SQL, BTEQ etc.. or even Hadoop map-reduce environments. DMExpress is typically 10X faster using 20% of the resources on the same hardware.

What big data technology you are familiar with?

Most of the leading technologies and practices on the market.

Any topic you'd like to share, hear or learn about?

Very open. My main objectives are to a) understand the growing trends and the real life application of the technologies by real customers, b) brainstorm/discuss development and best practices related to Big Data across multiple domains (be it verticals or domains).

Introduction

I am responsible for Syncsort's Data Integration business across EMEA.
