Resistance to Diversity

Today, I went to meet a few parents that wanted to purchase tickets for a bus trip to Chinatown D.C., US Chinese Embassy, and the US French Embassy at the Chinese School held at Morgan State University's Engineering Building every Sunday. While I was there, I met some very nice people and had great conversations. I also saw some women dancing that peeked my interest because I, too dance.

I went to inquire about how to join and the instructor chuckled and asked if I was serious. I shared with her some of my my son was fluent in Mandarin Chinese then some of my dance background both in the school system and Greater Baltimore. After disclosing my resume to her she considered allowing me to join next time.

So after this experience my discussion questions are:

Do you think racism still exists in America? If so, what's your philosophy on why it does or doesn't? How can we make gains to get through it?
