September 10th at UB

Hi all,

We are just a little over a week away from the first meeting of the
Buffalo and Western New York area gamers at UB. Details will follow
below. Right now, I'd like to get a better idea of how many people
are going to try to show up on the first weekend, so I can keep an
eye out for you. If you're thinking of coming that first weekend,
please let me know and let me know what you may bring to play. So
far, I believe we have 6 or 7 people that have previously said they
were going to be there (plus an unknown number of UB students). I
will be there, and I expect to bring some Ogre games to play if we
need them. Dave Hornung is going to run some Dirtside WWII action
for those that are interested.

We will meet the first saturday of every month at the first floor of
Baldy Hall at the University of Buffalo. Directions and maps are
in the files directory of the BACSIM yahoo group. I can get those
to anyone who let's me know they need them.

The first meeting is Saturday September 10th, to avoid the Labor Day

Meetings are for any and all miniatures and board gamers who feel
like making the trip to get here. There are also RPG and LARP games
going on in Baldy if that is your interest.

We don't have an assigned room yet, so I will try to put out signs
indicating where we are. Baldy is not too big, so just look around
at all the gaming and you should find us quite quickly. :-)

We are going to shoot for beginning around noon. You can show up
earlier, especially if you want to set up in advance. We can game
straight through until Midnight.

We are not a babysitting service. Anyone under 18 must be
accompanied at all times by an adult.

Parking is free at UB on the weekends.

We can rent tables from UB through SARPA for $65 for any number of
tables. Right now, I don't expect us to need them for most meets,
so there is no cost for gaming at this time. SARPA has offered to
pay $15 of the $65 for any time that we do rent tables.

The next meet will be Saturday October 1st. The meet after that is
Saturday November 5th. This is also the weekend of a mini-con for
charity at UB. There will be a $6 charge to game that weekend, with
$5 going to charity (most likely New Orleans now) and $1 going to
get tables for us. There is a push on to get as many people to come
that weekend as possible, so expect a good crowd that day.

I am going to bring 5 card table type folding tables to supplement
the available desks and round tables. These should be more than
sufficient to take care of any of our "normal" (normal?) gaming
needs. I'm also looking into buying or building 4 more banquet
style tables to facilitate miniatures gaming and larger board games.
I'll let people know as this happens. Anyone who wants to bring a
table (or donate one :-)), we'll happy welcome it. :-)

No alcohol is permitted on the UB campus, but any other food or
drink is fine.

We have to pick up after ourselves if we want this to continue.

I think that's about it. Hope to hear from and see you soon.

Grant, I'm not sure if I'll be in town this weekend, but if I am I'll be in touch.

Kevin and I are busy for the Sept. 10th meeting and the October 1st meeting, but hopefully you get a good turn out.

I most likely will be going to Ohio to visit family this weekend, Grant. If not, and if I can convince some of the folks here to go, I will go. Even if I cant get any of the folks here to go, I may stop by just to see the tables set up and all that. I'm not really a miniatures wargamer, but I do like to look at the setups.

Remember, it is board *and* mini's games. Quite frankly, I expect the board gamers to dominate the scene for a while as there seem to be more of them in the area, and the mini's gamers are fairly entrenched where they are. Hopefully we will get a mini's game running each meet, even if it just my Ogre mini's. Still, I expect to play some board games myself, so please feel free to bring and play anything you like,
especially if you've got something that would take longer to play then
you normally have. We've got all day here. :-)

I bought 4 30" x 72" foldable heavy tables at Harbour Freight ($39.99 on clearance), so the table problem has been solved for most of our meets. This is quite a good price for heavy portable tables, so if you're looking for any, go over there. I won't complain if anyone wants to donate a few dollars to help offset the cost. :-)

Hope to see you in the months to come.

It seems likely I will be there. Won't bring much beside myself.

Looks like I'm not going to Ohio this weekend, so I'll try to stop by and bring a few games along. This is all assuming I dont get slapped with a Honeydew list. Hope to see you Saturday.

We're headed to Erie PA to hit the waterpark for 1 evening and 2 full days of fun with the kids. Maybe next time.
