Ruby is the programming language of choice for many developers working at the cutting edge of web and application development.
Ruby is also a fun language and a great way to explore programming concepts.
Rubyists, as Ruby developers are called, are generally curious people who are interested in technology for its own sake and those who work professionally as software developers tend to take a serious interest in their craft. Because of this, we find that we have a lot to share above and beyond our common interest in programming Ruby.
The Boca Ruby Meetup meets monthly on the 3rd Wednesday. We try to schedule at least one Ruby-related presentation at our meetings and we encourage attendees to bring Ruby questions (beginning or advanced), and other interesting projects to show and tell. We usually enjoy considerable discussion related to state of the art technologies and techniques in areas of common interest.
The meetup is sponsored by Talcott Systems, LLC (http://www.talcottsystems.com/) and meets in the conference facilities of the Enterprise Development Center of South Florida (http://www.edc-tech.org/) at FAU in Boca Raton. Talcott Systems develops Web and Mobile Applications for clients. The EDC helps local startup technology companies and tenants in the incubator under the auspices of the Florida Atlantic Research and Development Authority.
David Blackmon will be presenting on his interesting work using IronRuby to drive AutoCad.
Hopefully one or more members who attended RubyConf 2009 in San Francisco will give a report on the things they learned and presentations they found most interesting.
This group doesn't have any additional upcoming Meetups scheduled.
