We'll start by going over the basics of cloud deployments for applications and services, starting with a static web site, then single-server web site (my mother-in-law's knitting blog - no joke!), all the way up to best practices with regard to security, automating deployments, auto-scaling, geographic distribution, high availability and durability, and making applications perform well with millions of users using a few of my own examples along with some from Netflix, Github, and others.
I'll also be covering the way that pre-engineered cloud-based offerings are built and architected and the advantages and disadvantages of using cloud-based offerings instead of creating your own from scratch. We can talk about anything from S3 and RDS as datastores to Heroku.
