Boston Book Club renewed and revamped: Form a group in your town!!

Okay Boston Readers,
So, as many of you also discovered today, the Boston Book Club reached its winding down point and needed a new source of, well, funds, and emails:-). My name is Lisa and as most of you know, I've been plaguing your inboxes as the organizer for the Cambridge branch of this group for the past year and a half. My thought is, with over 500 members, how can this group die? So, more funds have been provided to the Meetup gods, the bookclub goes on, and you're getting email.

Here's the thing. I think it's about time we get back to our original mission and goal, which was to use this site as a source of scheduling and discovering bookclubs meeting in and around Boston. Over the past year I've received emails from folks who didn't want to head to Cambridge and wanting to get a club up and running in their own neighborhoods. Well now we're on :-).
I'm up for continuing to plan our Cambridge crews calender, but I can't possible fit in more than one book, and one group per month (heh, and as my folks will tell ya, sometimes I can't even fit in that...sorry guys, I'm heading to the calender right now to schedule our next meeting :-)

What I need are some folks willing to take the helm for groups in their area. It's a very easy process, meetup makes it a breeze and all ya do is pick a book, pick a night, schedule a meeting, and the coolest folks show up to chat about it! If you explore the site you'll see that I've made use of the polls and a blogspot (see the about us page) and I'd love for our other organizers (please let there be other organizers!!) to capitalize on them as well.

If you are interested in "manning" a group in your town, suburb, where ever, please send me a reply and I'll fill ya in on how it goes. I've renewed us for about 3 months, and figure we'll see how we fair. Heh, and if we don't get more towns involved, you guys are stuck with Cambridge news and Cambridge news only. And then we'll change the name.....kidding!!!

And FYI, this is super casual. I'm not out to really "organize" this group. My goal is to keep this page open as a means for a bunch of monthly meetings be scheduled and everyone to find out about bookclubs in the boston and surrounding areas, each led by it's own "organizer". And the thing that's cool, if we can make it happen, is we could have a number of different books being read per month, letting us pick and chose those that interest us. So please email me and let me know if you'd be up for manning a group in your area. Or y'all are stuck with what our crazy Cambridge crew keeps picking :-)

Happy Presidents Day!
