About Tim Bratton

Tim Bratton joined FT.com, the website of the Financial Times in 2000, joining as FT.com's second in-house lawyer. Prior to joining the FT, Tim practised as a solicitor in Denton Wilde Sapte's Technology, Media & Telecoms team, specialising in IT, IP and digital media issues. Between 2000 and 2003 Tim held a number of legal roles at the FT, and also spent 3 months on a commercial secondment with the online business development team. In 2003, Tim was appointed General Counsel of the Financial Times when the print, online and magazine divisions of the business were merged together and in 2005 was named Legal Week's "Most Promising Young In-House Lawyer". Recent projects that Tim has been involved in advising on include the implementation of the FT's digital licensing strategy, the launch of FT's "China Confidential" enewsletter, the licensing issues underlying FT's iPhone application, and the acquisition by the FT of a number of online businesses in the recruitment/publishing sectors. Tim is a member of the FT's Senior Management Group and also the Financial Times Group's senior management forum.
