BWPM Jun2013: What's New in 3.6 & A Critical Piece Missing In Your Workflow

While we gather information about sponsors/food/agenda, we are proud to announce our talks.

Beginner & Intermediate Talk:

What's New in WordPress 3.6 by Erick Hitter (@ethitter)

WordPress 3.6's release is imminent, so the logical question is, "What's coming?" This release focuses on the editing experience in WordPress, and brings what are likely to be welcome improvements for anyone who spends time creating content in the admin. Erick will not only cover the new features that will be immediately visible upon upgrade, but some hidden gems and code-level changes as well.

Erick is a local WordPress developer working for Automattic, Inc., the company that runs When he isn't leading the team focused on building customization tools for users, he contributes to WordPress Core and helps organize WordCamp Boston. For the WordPress 3.6 release, he was also co-lead of the team that worked on enhancements to the Revisions system.

Developer Talk:

A Critical Piece Missing In Your WordPress Development Workflow by Brad Touesnard (@bradt)

Deploying WordPress has gotten a lot easier in recent years. Whether you use a service like or just use git, you can now update staging and production code in one quick step. Unfortunately copying your WordPress database from one environment to another can still be quite painful. In this talk, we'll take a look at how my free WP Migrate DB plugin has been solving this problem for years and how the new pro version goes even further and is saving developers a ton of time.

Founder of Delicious Brains (, a company building super awesome products for WordPress. Brad comes to us from Halifax, Nova Scotia!

    Hi Guys,

Dan here, Head of Hosted Applications here at aTech Media.

I'm the principal developer of Deploy ( I'm afraid we've only just heard about this meetup, and as such be attending since we're still here in the UK!

However, if anyone has any questions about Deploy feel free to drop us an email or pop into our customers HipChat room here: between 9am and 5pm BST.

      Hi Dan,

Brad had volunteered to give a talk about WordPress deployment and mentioned using Deploy from his experience. We realize that you were not aware of it and as Deploy was not the major subject of his talk. I'm not quite sure how the rumor started with your (aTech Media) attendance, but we knew for sure that you were not going to be a major presence here.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me offline.
