Our June 27, 2013 meeting features two talks: a demonstration of the Foglight diagnostic & monitoring solution for Windows Azure, followed by a deep dive into Cloud Storage focusing on Windows Azure Blob Storage and Amazon S3.

Foglight

In the opening talk (6:30-7:00), Douglas Chrystall will be leading a demonstration of Foglight – a quick-to-deploy diagnostic and monitoring solution that helps assure the performance and availability of applications built on the Windows Azure platform.

Cloud Storage

In the featured talk (7:00-8:15), Udaiappa Ramachandran (blog (http://cloudycode.wordpress.com/), linkedin (http://www.linkedin.com/in/udair)) will lean into file storage in the cloud and how it is different. Udai will look at specific offerings from both the Windows Azure (Blob Storage) and Amazon Web Services (S3) platforms.

Udaiappa Ramachandran (Udai) runs the Nashua .NET Cloud User Group (https://www.meetup.com/nashuaug/) (@nhcloud (https://twitter.com/nhcloud)), is a Chief Architect at Ektron (http://www.ektron.com), is a cloud expert, Azure Insider, and a repeat speaker for the Boston Azure cloud user group.

About Douglas:

Douglas Chrystall currently heads the Cloud Tool Division at Dell Software. Prior to joining Dell, Douglas was the founder of Imceda Software, the creator of the LiteSpeed backup and recovery solution that’s now part of Dell Software’s product portfolio. He was CEO of CIM a virtualization company, which was sold to Dell in 2009. He holds patents in database management technology and machine learning. Douglas has been a key contributor on advisory boards and sits on the board of several startup companies. Douglas is also a member of Microsoft.
