The Data Operating System for Hadoop 2.0 - YARN Tech Talk

Details

Tom McCuch, Joseph Niemiec, and Oleg Zhurakousky of Hortonworks will join Boston HUG to host a talk on YARN, the processing heart of Hadoop. Joseph recently co-authored the book on YARN by Addison-Wesley: http://www.amazon.com/Apache-Hadoop-YARN-Processing-Addison-Wesley/dp/0321934504 Apache™ Hadoop® YARN is a sub-project of Hadoop at the Apache Software Foundation introduced in Hadoop 2.0 that separates the resource management and processing components. YARN was born of a need to enable a broader array of interaction patterns for data stored in HDFS beyond MapReduce. The YARN-based architecture of Hadoop 2.0 provides a more general processing platform that is not constrained to MapReduce. The talk will cover; What, Why and How to build Applications on YARN.
