Hello Boston Hadoop users!
Happy new year - I hope your 2012 is off to a great start. There's no snow on the ground, the sun is shining, and it's fifty degrees colder than my ideal temperature. Two out of three is pretty good.
I'm writing to ask for your input on the Boston Hadoop MeetUp group. One of my goals for 2012 is to help foster a stronger Boston Hadoop community - there are 350+ members of this group, but there hasn't been much activity lately. I'm very interested in finding out more about the makeup of the group (e.g., Hadoop experience), what types of events would be most appealing (lectures etc.), and what type of support members of the community might be able to offer (e.g., running workshops or being on panel discussions).
I work for a startup called Hadapt; we're commercializing some research that brings together the best of Hadoop and relational databases. (One good way to think of us is as a better, faster version of Hive.) I work on the marketing/bizdev side, and I have a bit of bandwidth to devote to the Hadoop community in Boston.
I've put together a brief survey to try and get a sense for the makeup of this group. If you have a few minutes, please fill it out. The survey is available here:
If you would like to take a more active role in the Meetup group, have any comments/issues that were outside the scope of the survey, or would like to meet for a cup of coffee, please feel free to email me! My email address is [address removed].
