Visiting Boston from Jerusalem, Gabriel Levin -- a poet and translator from Hebrew and Arabic -- will be at Suffolk University for two events later this month.
Levin's work includes translations of the contemporary Palestinian/Israeli poet Taha Muhammad Ali and the Hebrew medieval poet Yehuda Halevi; five books of his own poetry (published in the UK) and a volume of memoir/essays called The Dune’s Twisted Edge (U of Chicago Press). In all he has explored the Levant and Mediterranean for common threads—contemporary, biblical, classical. Relief from what is often riven.
