BRUG monthly meeting

Details

I'm moving October's meetup from a week so it doesn't collide with Halloween parties.

This month again we have a nice line up for you guys!, look at this:

Ian Dickinson (https://twitter.com/ephemerian) - The Beginner's Guide to Open Linked Data and Ruby

Forget the Romans, what have the W3C ever done for us? Well, apart from HTML, CSS, XML, SVG and so forth, the W3C have also given us a set of standards for sharing, linking and querying data on the web. Linked data provides a platform for making your data available to apps, scripts and, at a pinch, humans, in an open, meaningful and re-usable way. This talk will cover the elements of the various linked-data standards and patterns, and give a taste for how Ruby developers can join in the fun.

Sam Pikesley (https://twitter.com/pikesley) - Test-Driven Infrastructure with Cucumber-chef

Sam, long-time SysAdmin and now Head of Robots at the Open Data Institute, will talk about the intersection of Behaviour-Driven Development, Configuration Management and Virtualisation (with Cucumber, Chef, Vagrant and LXC), and hopes you'll be as excited about his favourite tools as he is.

Nicolas Alpi (https://twitter.com/spyou) - Refactor your productivity

Self help talk for developers. How can we use our loved code and refactoring paradigms to change our productivity for good!
