Meet kindred classic literature aficionados in a local Book Club! The focus of our club will be classic British literature, primarily 19th century. From the genteel elegance of Jane Austen's world to the seamy underside of Arthur Conan Doyle's and Charles Dickens' London, we'll read and discuss it all. Henry James, William Thackeray, the Brontës, Thomas Hardy, Lewis Carroll, and Oscar Wilde are just some of the many other authors from whom we have to choose. For comparison, we also may read Louisa May Alcott, Edgar Allen Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne and other 19th century American authors.

A few times each year, we conduct our book discussion while enjoying a proper English tea. Imagine discussing Austen at a Regency Tea or "Alice in Wonderland" at a Mad Hatter Tea Party! Often, we schedule a "Movie Night" prior to discussions so that we can view a film adaptation of our books. Occasionally, we enjoy special activities, such as a theatrical production of "Pride and Prejudice" or a Regency Bonnet Craft Day.

Come join us and make new friends while enjoying the classic books that rarely find their way into book clubs anymore. If you're tired of the latest homogenized bestseller and long for writers who know how to construct a literate sentence, join those who appreciate the beauty of the English language and literature which uplifts the soul!
