What we’re about
Buckeye Trail: Lake Plains Chapter is the chapter for those who live near or along the Lake Plains extent of the Buckeye Trail which includes the Pemberville, Norwalk, and Medina Sections of the BT. We support the Buckeye Trail through hiking, backpacking, and volunteer events.
The BT joins the North Coast Inland Trail (NCIT), a multipurpose paved trail, in Elmore (Pemberville section), and continues until just east of Wakeman (Norwalk section). Historical sites of interest along the way include the towering 273’ double-arch Chapin Bridge, built-in 1872, which spans the Vermillion River. As well as the Kirby House and the picturesque Kirby Mill and dam, which is on the National Register of Historic Landmarks, located within the Richland Heritage Preserve.
