[English version]

Greetings, Fellow Scala Crafters!

April is about Craft (http://craft-conf.com/2015), and its many related meetups.

For us, scala enthusiasts, the Functional meetup, Craft edition can be of interest.

Talks:

Melinda Tóth: Using the open-source RefactorErl in Ericsson

This talk is going to present RefactorErl, an open source static source code analyzer and transformation
tool for Erlang. The tool's static analysis engine enables to understand various Erlang language
constructs (macros, dynamic functions, records etc.), provides code navigation based on semantics (call
graph, dataflow etc.) and enables 27 different refactorings. It provides many user interfaces from web
based code navigation and customizable semantic queries, through a fully featured Emacs plugin to
command line access.
Ericsson applied the RefactorErl tool in its Erlang-based products as it enables users to

  • shorten bugfix time,
  • improve the software maintenance processes of a team,
  • shorten the learning time of newcomers,
  • increase the quality of the source code,
  • change the source code in a meaning preserving way through refactorings,
  • support handling and understanding millions of lines of Erlang code etc.

Yan Cui: Learn you to tame complex APIs with F# powered DSLs
The emergence of Cloud platforms has fundamentally changed the IT landscape, to the extent that it is
now unthinkable for a technology-based startup not to operate on the cloud. However, attempting to ride
on this ever-expanding platform ecosystem wave has created a new set of challenges.
Join Yan Cui in this talk as he draws on his extensive experience with AWS over the last 5 years to
illustrate, with real-world use cases, how the backend team at Gamesys Social is using F# to build
internal and external DSLs to successfully navigate AWS service complexity.

  • DSL: domain specific language

EPAM Training Facility. 1082 Budapest, Futó utca 47-53.
