Do things that appeal to a broader base such as excursions to Niagara Falls, Toronto, and New York City. I'm a worldly guy and at least recommend we go to Niagara Falls with the playful goal of each person meeting someone new there who is not from this area, then telling the group (perhaps over coffee) of his or her conversation with that person/people. I find this more expansive.
There's too much sameness/Buffalo-centric thinking here. So I recommend we have en event where people just sit and chat over coffee - including introductions and answers to these profile questions so we can share knowledge, experiences, preferences, and recommendations. I find many groups here are cliques and proper introductions are not made (others not from here initiated that comment to me, and I agree). However, this is an opportunity for improvement. In fact, I believe every meetup should start out with this introduction. Why just show up to an event, follow everyone around, then leave without knowing who you were with and losing the potential to bond with someone similar (or different if you prefer)? Hopefully there's a recognition that not everyone here, especially those "new in town," is interested in Buffalo. How about introducing group members with similar interests - which may or may not include Buffalocentric activities - so they can chat/bond?
Well, as long as you're asking... I like exploring, and since this is the "new in town" group I take that literally and am especially seeking to connect with others not from the Buffalo vicinity who could have different ideas than the local folks as to what to do. I like exploring relatively unknown places (found a few here), places that remind me of New York City (found a few here), going to relatively unknown festivals (found a few here that even the locals haven't heard about), and meeting new/interesting people. I am not interested in the Bills and Sabres (follow my hometown teams instead).
Others I met at places mentioned above.
From New York City and seeking to live this same lifestyle while here in Buffalo (albeit there are limited opportunities). World traveler, writer, speaker, active. Seeking to meet people from major USA and world cities now residing/visiting the area.
