Welcome Women Roadies.

Hello ladies!

I wanted to update you about the exciting things we are doing at Cyclo Bellas for 2010 - we want to maintain our inclusive focus as a women’s riding group, while also expanding to mentor and support women racers. To this end, we will be an Alberta Bicycle Association (ABA)-affiliated club in 2010! This affiliation provides the club and its riders with liability coverage in the event of injury while participating in club rides and clinics. It is also through the ABA that our members can find out more about cycling in Alberta and how to become more involved it they so desire. The ABA is our advocacy group in Alberta for all types of cyclists from recreational riders to national level competitors. More information about the ABA can be found at www.albertabicycle.ab.ca.

For 2010, we are happy to provide two types of membership for our rider:

1. Recreational Membership -- $50

- requires the additional purchase of general ABA membership for $35
- 2 group rides per week May-September that will have some structure provided
by a Certified Coach
- 3 skills clinics (we are thinking the following: Road Riding 101, Learn to Race, Basic Road
Bike Maintenance but are open to suggestions and may offer more if the demand was there)
- Online access to coach Q & A
- Water bottle and grab bag
- Different Bikes Gear available at discounted prices

2. Racing Membership -- $85

- requires the additional purchase of an ABA Racing membership for $125
- Liability insurance for ABA race licence
- 1 Sugoi Jersey/Shorts sponsored by Different Bikes (additional gear at Pro pricing)
- Water bottle and grab bag
- 2 x prescribed rides per week May-September (by a Certified Level II coach)
- Pre-race tactics and strategies
- Mentorship for new racers provided by current racers
- Online access to coach Q & A

Membership will open in January and I will post instructions on how to register at that time.

Rides will continue to be posted as Meetups and an RSVP will be required so members will know who to expect on the rides. No ride leaders will be identified and it is still your responsibility to know the route and the ride. Coaching information will be available through a weblink that will be provided to members only.
