Welcome, Calgary Hike, Snowshoe & XC Ski Enthusiasts!
Meet other local mountain enthusiasts to enjoy our outstanding natural surroundings and good company! All those are welcome who are dedicated to meeting people and participating in outdoor excursions with a range from easy to difficult hikes and scrambles* - day trips from Calgary. In the summer it's hiking, in the winter it's x-country skiing and snowshoeing. Plus we'll throw in other stuff for fun. I believe we're one of the more active meetups in town.
THESE ARE NOT "GUIDED" TRIPS. BE SURE TO READ the FAQ and Tips items in the Files section. Organizers do their homework AND you are responsible for yourself. You are also responsible for not endangering anyone else through your lack of preparation or skill for the relevant trip.
*A scramble is a non-technical mountain ascent. Specialized equipment may be required. A high level of fitness is required. Significant exposure (fall distance) and risk may be involved. Some free climbing may be required. An easy scramble is usually more difficult than a difficult hike.

Slight change of details on where to park at the trail (see below). Abby and I walked the first hour of the trail on Saturday, Nov. 14, and there was maybe an inch of snow. Just enough to make the vole hunting good (Abby caught one). I met a couple hikers who'd just come down from Mount Burke, and they said there were places with snow on the way up, but nothing to worry about, and it was a great hike. Read more
