Announcing a new Meetup for Comics Makers Los Angeles!

What: August Meeting 2.0: The Writers Strike Back

When: Sunday, August 29,[masked]:00 PM

Where: Cafe Mak
612 Shatto Pl
Los Angeles, CA 90005

Hi All! I hope you're ready to put on your thinking caps, 'cause it's time to talk about writing for comics! Some of us are writers, some of us are artists, and many of us are a bit of both, but we can all benifit from a discussion on plot structure and dialogue within comics. Here's a few topics tot hink about for the meeting:

  • What sort of story (premis, genre, length, general feel, character traits) do you have in mind? Where have you seen something similar executed before?
  • As a writer, what sort of resources are available to work through story and character ideas, and possibly dislodge that mental block?
  • As a writer, what sort of resources are available to help find the artist that best fits your writing style, budget and genereal work process?
  • As an artist who has worked with writers, what sort of obstacles have you faced and what methods have you used to help keep the working relationship flowing smoothly?

If you have any scripts that you would like critiqued, you can either link to them in the comment of this meeting, let us know if you have uploaded them to the "files" section of this group (under the "more" tab up top), or bring a small sample to the meeting. I know that Taylor has uploaded a couple of sample scripts to our Files section that she would like some feeback on!

Also, I plan on uploading a summary of important items discussed after the meeting, so hopefully this group will become a useful resource for members who may not be able to make many of the meetings.

See you there!
- Connor
